The Vimal Vashi Temple, built by Vimal Shah in 1031 A.D, is the most ancient of the Dilwara Jain Temples of Mount Abu. Vimal Shah of Gujarat, who built the Vimal Vasahi Temple, was the minister of Raja Bim Deo, a Rajput ruler. Devoted to Adinath, the first Jain Tirthankara, this marvelous temple was built out of white marble brought from the Arasoori Hill that is located close to Ambaji that is situated at a distance of 23 km from the Abu Road.
The Luna Vashi Temple is dedicated to Shri Nemi Nathji, the 22nd Jain Tirthankara. Built in 1230 A.D after 200 years of the construction of the Vimal Vashi Temple by Tej Pala and Vastu Pala, the two brothers who were ministers of a Rajput ruler, the Luna Vashi Temple was built in resemblance with the Vimal Vashi Temple.
The Luna Vashi Temple was built by a minister of Ahmedabad’s Sultan Begada, Bhima Shah. Cast in five metals, the colossal metal statue of Rishab Dev Adinath had been made mostly by using “Pital” or brass. The Pittalhar Temple is comprised mainly of a navchowki, gudh mandap and a garbagriha.
The Parshavanath Temple of the Dilwara Jain Temples, dedicated to Lord Parshavanath, was built in 1458-59 A.D by Mandlik and his family. This temple is comprised of a three-storeyed structure, the tallest of all the temples at Dilwara.
The Mahavir Swami Temple, dedicated to Lord Mahavir, the 24th Jain Tirthankara, was built in 1582 A.D. This temple in Mount Abu is adorned with pictures created by the Sirohi artists in 1764 A.D on the higher walls of its porch.
