Kota Tourism

Kota the historical city of Rajasthan boasts of an impressive past. Now it is the hub of industrialization in Rajasthan. Located in south Rajasthan on the banks of the Chambal River, Kota forms a part of the Malwa plateau. The Mokandarra hill range runs through a part of this historical town. The best time to visit this city of Rajasthan is during the winter months. Kota Tourism includes an impressive array of forts, mansions, palaces, museums and gardens.

Kota formed part of the jurisdiction of the famous Bundi Kingdom. In 1624 this was partitioned on the orders of the Mughal emperor Jehangir. It then became an independent state. Rao Deva ruled over it and was descended by his son Rao Madho Singh. Later in the 19th century it came under the British rule in India. The museum which forms an important part of Kota Tourism; is named after Rao Madho Singh. The various artifacts and relics displayed at the Museum forms an integral part of the history of the town. The 14th century Kishore Sagar Tank is an important tourist attraction of Kota. The unique feature of the Jagmandir tank in Kota separates it from the other religious places. It is built on an island at the center of the Kishore Sagar Tank. Another Museum of Kota is the Brij Vilas Palace Museum. An important Kota tourist attraction is the Kota Barrage.



It is the irrigation canal of the Chambal river. A good place for leisure walks. Amid these imposing historical structures dominating the landscape of Kota. The various gardens provide a welcome respite to visitors. A prominent tourist spot in Kota is the Chambal Gardens. A crocodile pond at the center forms the main attraction of the park. A few crocodiles can still be viewed here. This picturesque garden in Kota forms a part of Kota Tourism.
