Jodhpur’s Jaswant Thada is an example of architectural excellence not in Rajasthan, but all over the country. It was built out of white marble memorial, which was taken from the cut out portions of marble. The artistic works amply reflects the natural brilliance of the artists who were involved in the construction. The stones are absolutely thin and polished. On account of these the outside surface reflects a warm glow when sunrays fall on its surface.
The memorials of Maharaja Jaswant Singh displays portrays of the rulers and Maharajas of Jodhpur. The main memorial looks just like a temple. During the visit to the Thada the travelers have to visit through the rocky hills. This also corroborates a spiritual flavor to the whole visit.
Jaswant Thada also is a fine piece of Rajputana architecture. The architecture of the Thada is such that it appeals the tourist with emotion. This monument is located half way up the long road which climbs on top of the fort leading to the cremation ground of the rulers of Jodhpur. This historical marble memorial was built in the year 1899 as a tribute to Jaswant Singh 11.
