Galiakot

Rajasthan is quite famous for forts, palaces, traditional rituals and tribal festivals. But very few people are actually aware of the fact that it is also the homeland of a large number of Muslim people. Rajasthan is in fact one of the major places in India where Islam beliefs influenced an impressive number of Indians. In this context, it must be mentioned that Galiakot in Dungarpur is a fine manifestation of the popularity of Islam religion in Rajasthan. Galiakot is a highly significant Muslim pilgrimage center of Dungarpur.

Galiakot is located 50 km south east of Dungarpur and it is counted as one of the major tourist attractions of Rajasthan. Galiakot is a small town in Rajasthan which houses the tomb of the saint Fakruddin. This tomb is surely one of the most famous religious structures in the entire state. Saint Fakruddin is still respected for its positive contributions to Islam religion. It was he who induced the spirit of Islam into the hearts of the local people in the 10th century. And, so, he is just like Mohammed for the local Muslims in Dungarpur as they cam to know about the words of prophet Mohammed from him. And, even today, the tomb is visited by thousand of Muslims from all the corners of India every year and both the local and international Bohra Muslims gather in Galiakot to pay tribute to the contributions of the saint.

The tomb is a wonderful manifestation of traditional Islam architectural style. Experience the magic of serenity and tranquility over there. You would feel to be in communion with the prophet in Galiakot tomb.
