Baneshwar

If you are planning for a rocking vacation in Rajasthan, then plan your trip during the Baneshwar Fair in Dungarpur. Baneshwar is a popular religious festival and it is usually celebrated by following certain traditional rituals. Thus, this is definitely a simple festival yet highly attractive and colorful. And, if you are truly interested to know about the cultural life of the local people, then, this is surely the right time for having a vacation over there.

It is really easy to understand the culture of a particular community during the festive period as you get to know about the beliefs and rituals of the same. Baneshwar is a festival of the Bhils of Rajasthan. Baneshwar actually refers to the Shiva linga, the master of the delta. And, this is the reason why Baneshwar is celebrated at a small delta formed by the rivers Mahi and Som. The local people utter prayers to Lord Shiva or Baneshwar and the festival is celebrated with traditional folk songs, Rasila, magic shows, animal show and acrobatic feats. The Baneshwar Fair is held on the full moon day of every Vaishakh, that is the months of April and May.

Though, the climatic conditions of Rajasthan is quite extreme and it becomes difficult for the tourists to tolerate the scorching heat of the summer months yet this trip would surely be a memorable one as Baneshwar would keep you all engaged and you would enjoy every moment of the tour. Baneshwar is actually a tribal fair but nowadays it has become one of the major tourist attractions in Dungarpur and even the foreign travelers take interest in the traditional rituals of the festival.
