Padmini’s Palace with a famous pavilion is located beside the lotus pool which altered the history of Chittorgarh. In 1303 the ruler of Delhi, Ala-ud-din Khilji saw Rani Padmini’s reflection on a water tank and he was so much fascinated that he thought of possessing the queen and started a war against the Rajputs in which Maharana Ratan Singh was killed by Ala-ud-din Khilji. Rani Padmini, instead of giving up to the enemies, performed Jauhar with her children and other women present at the palace. This tragic legend of Rani Padmini became immortalized forever in the history of Chittorgarh which still enthralls the tourists in Rajasthan.
