With the magnificent palaces, enormous sports, beautifully chiseled temples, rich cultural centers and magical sand dunes, the exotic land of Rajasthan is home to various beautiful and interesting places to visit in India. The numerous tourist attractions of this scenic land of Rajasthan in fact, draw tourists from all parts of the world. Some of the most interesting of these tourist spots of Rajasthan are the historic museums that reveal the glorious past of this famous state of India, one of the most famous of these popular museums of Rajasthan being the Fateh Prakash Palace Museum of Chittaurgarh.

Chittaurgarh is home to the famous Chittaurgarh Fort, most probably constructed by the 7th century Maurya kings which expresses the rich past of this quaint city of Rajasthan. Standing high on a 180 meter hillock covering an extensive stretch of 70 acres, this fort is the famous historic site of the war between the Mughals and the Sisodias. The Fateh Prakash Palace Museum was sited at this famous location of Chittaurgarh in 1968 when a part of the Fateh Prakash Palace was transformed into the museum. The most valuable of the artifacts which are in display at the Fateh Prakash Palace Museum include the Ganpati from Pangarh and the Jain Ambica and Indra statue of the medieval period brought from Rashmi village.

Fateh Prakash Palace Museum has an entire section devoted to the great historic sculptures. Another section at the museum is dedicated to armors, weapons, daggers, old shields, helmets, knives and axes. The replicas in clay of the local tribes attired in their traditional dresses are also displayed in one room of the museum. Other sections in the Fateh Prakash Palace Museum include Coins, Archeology, Art Gallery, Weapons, Tribal Life and Wood Crafts of Bassi Village.
