Shiv Bari Temple

Bikaner, a city that is situated in the northwest region of Rajasthan (the largest state of India as far as area is concerned) was earlier the capital of the princely state of Bikaner. This city, which got founded in the year 1486 by Rao Bika has emerged today as a popular destination for its rich history, rich culture, numerous historical sites, temples and also for its festivals.

It could be said that at Bikaner, one of the most interesting place of visit is the temple, known as the Shiv Bari Temple. This temple, which is built of red sandstone is fortified by a wall and is dedicated to Lord Shiva (one of the principal deities of Hinduism). The credit for the construction of such a beautiful temple that took place in the 9th century goes to Maharaja Doongar Singh, who got this temple built in the memory of his father.

This temple is adorned with splendid wall paintings that are just a treat to the eyes and the painting that would truly arrest your attention is the wall painting of Nandi Bull facing Lord Shiva. Do not forget to carry your camera along with you, as you do not want to miss out on the opportunity to take some pictures of these mind-blowing wall paintings.

If after exploring this tourist attraction, you still have some spare hours for yourself then you can opt to check out the other sites that lie in close proximity to this site and for this purpose you can either opt for the local transport or can hire a car and the cost of hiring a car would definitely suit the budget of the travelers.
