Banswara is the native place of the Bhils forming 39% of the total population of Banswara. The name can either be from the bamboo trees located in this place or Bhil chieftain named Bansna, who was killed in the battle by Maharawal Jagmal Singh.
This place is known as the City of Hundred Islands as the river Mahi, borders the district and also flows surrounding a lot of islands located over here. This river also separates Dungarpur and Banswara districts into 2 different regions. Banswara is in the south east part of Rajasthan.

Udaipur is on the west of Banswara, Chittaurgarh on the North, and the states of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh on the south and east of Banswara, respectively. The nearest airport is Udaipur and railway station is Ratlam.
The climate of Banswara is an important aspect of Banswara Tourism . The best time to visit Banswara in during August to March. It experiences as any other places of Rajasthan, very hot summers and relatively cold winters. The annual rainfall is 28 cms.
