Taragarh Fort

Taragarh Fort is one of the popular tourist attractions in Ajmer. It is also one of the famous tourist attractions of Rajasthan. This massive Taragarh Fort was constructed by Raja Ajaipal Chauhan on the top of the sandstone hill. Taragarh Fort is surrounded by a thick wall of stone and 6 bug gates are located in it. The beautiful carving of the elephants in stone beautify the massive gates of this fort.

The massive Bhim Burj in Taragarh Fort holds a large canon, one of the largest canons of world. The historical importance of Taragarh Fort is that it was an important military hub during the time of Mughal reign. During the time of British rule, Taragarh Fort was a sanatorium. The Tour Miran Saheb ki Dargah at Taragarh Fort is also visited by tourists. Miran Saheb was a loyal general, who died while defending Taragarh during an attack by enemy. Water harvesting system of Taragarh Fort is very famous. The massive stone reservoirs were used to contain water, during that time.

The entire fort is not open to public viewing, but tourists can visit the major portions of Taragarh Fort. You can get an idea of the historical era if you walk through Taragarh Fort. You can also explore the secrets associated with this place. Another attraction inside Taragarh Fort premises is Adhai-Din-KA Jhonpra. You can also also do trekking in the steep rocky hill, Nagpahari, while going towards towards Taragarh Fort.
